after the update the game does not start

This afternoon I played the sims without problems. As soon as I did the update I closed the game and I can't start it anymore. Only the EA app opens. Whether I click on the sims icon or if I try to start it from the EA app, it seems that the app closes and opens again, but the game doesn't start :_((

does anyone have the same problem? are there any solutions? i was working on a creation :-(((

I am having the same issue. I play the game both on my laptop and my desktop. I did the base game update for the New Death expansion. Played it once and everything was great. tried it again and it launches the game window and then does nothing else. Even when I force quit that window the EA app still says the game is running. I have to restart my computer before I can try again. I uninstalled , removed everything from the directory, reset eveything. Still nothing works. How ever I can still play on my laptop with no problem. The are both Windows 11 computers and the laptop is about 10 years older, the desktop is just under 2 years old.

  • arismile89  If you use any mods or custom content at all, please move the Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package.  You don't need to save your progress; this is just for testing.  And if you have any files in ConfigOverride, please delete them.

If that doesn't help or isn't relevant, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the camera (Insert Media) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • W_socrates88  Please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • W_socrates88  Make sure the dxdiag is saved as a .txt file, and try attaching it using any of the buttons that allows for it.  I do want to see the entire thing.  The first part doesn't have nearly enough information to be thorough.  If you really can't make it work, upload the dxdiag to a third-party filehosting site (Google Drive or whatever you want to use) and link it here.

I do see one detail though, which is that your monitor, or at least you first one, is plugged into the motherboard rather than the GPU you probably have installed.  So please switch that over, with your computer off.  Any sort-of-new GPU should have an HDMI port.
