All my save files are gone

I was trying to play the Sims 4 earlier today, but it wouldn't load my game. I had just downloaded cc, but I already checked and that wasn't the problem. So I downloaded the Mod Conflict Detector so I could delete any mods or cc that were causing my hame to not load. I deleted all of the cc that had conflicts, but my game still wouldn't load. So I searched it up and read somewhere that I should move my entire 'The Sims 4' folder onto my desktop. I did that, but when I reopened the folder on my desktop, all my mod and save files were gone. I found my mods and cc, they're still downloaded just not in the Sims 4 file. But I can't find my saves anywhere. I tried repairing the game, looking through the recycle bin, and I tried searching it up but I couldn't find any answers that work. This is all after the update by the way. All my saves are gone and my Sims game is like completely restarted. Please help, I've spent more than 200 hours on this game, and all my progress is just gone.

  • Ariiww2010  Did you already have a Sims 4 folder on your desktop?  If so, that might explain the problem: the system can't have two files or folders with the same name in the same location.  You would have been asked to keep the original or replace it with the new version, in some form, and keeping the original would mean the new files could get combined with the old, or deleted entirely.

I understand you don't use OneDrive, but if it's even running in the background, it could be a problem as well.  So please double-check.  You'd see a cloud icon in the lower-right corner of your screen, or possibly in the Tray—click the ^ icon to open it.

  • Ariiww2010  So you're saying there are no files inside the saves folder in the Sims 4 folder you moved?  That's where they should be, and considering your mods and custom content are present, I'm surprised the saves alone would disappear.  Or maybe I'm misunderstanding and your mods and cc are elsewhere?  Please let me know either way.

Please also let me know whether OneDrive is running on your computer.  Even if you never use it, OneDrive could have synced your files, both causing the problem and perhaps giving you a workaround.  Please see the first post of this thread for more information.

The saves folder has a few files in them, but I think that's because I've put the Sims 4 folder on my desktop and launched the game before. So now there's saves in the folder from the last time I did that, but those aren't the ones I want. For some reason when I did it this time, everything was just gone. The last time I put the Sims 4 folder on my desktop, it saved all of my saves and everything and I was able to put it back into the Electronic Arts folder and get everything back. My cc is on my laptop since I downloaded it, but it's not in the Mods folder. I also don't use OneDrive.

I didn't have the same Sims 4 folder but I had a different Mods folder on the desktop, could that cause the problem too? I was asked to keep the original or replace it, but I just cancelled the action. I had some copies of cc that I wasn't using on my desktop and thought that was the reason, so I deleted the cc, and then added the Sims 4 folder to my desktop. It didn't ask that time, it just moved it. I also checked my file explorer, and I don't see any cloud icon anywhere on my screen.
