first of all can we have your computer specs? that would help us alot
Jerk00 Please provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I have no idea if this worked. :/
Jerk00 Are you getting BlueScreens when Sims 4 crashes? I ask because your dxdiag is full of them, but I can't tell from your description if that's what you're seeing. The blue screen itself sometimes disappears too quickly to notice, but these are definitely happening.
All the BSOD codes are serious errors of memory access, although there's not enough info in the dxdiag to say where they're coming from. So I'd like to see a crash dump. Go here:
C:\Windows\Minidump
For the last two or three files, right-click them and select Copy, then right-click the desktop and select Paste. From there, zip the files together (right-click, send to > compressed file), upload the .zip to a free filesharing site, and link it here.

Also it's possible I'm getting blue screen, but mostly I see a glitched sort of text real quick then the computer shuts off and then starts diagnosing.
Jerk00 Sorry, that was a typo, the L being next to the colon.
C:\Windows\Minidump
And you type it into the address bar of a File Explorer window.

I wasn't lying when I said I was computer dumb. This is the only file within MiniDump. There also doesn't seem to be an option to "send to" when I right click. If I double click to open it gives me options on where to open it and of course, I have no idea. Goodness, I'm sorry for being difficult.

I'm beginning to understand that this is a computer issue and not the Sims issue. I'm not sure if I can return this laptop as it was a gift from my husband, but I'm going to try. I've had several laptops in the past and I have never run into problems running this game. For the price he paid for this machine and having nothing else installed, I feel it should run just fine.
Thank you for your help, I appreciate the time.
