Can't install, run, update, or uninstall the EA app or The Sims 4

I tried launching The Sims 4 but it said that the file for the Sims couldn't be located even though I've had and played the game for a few months now. tried to redownload it, said that there was a "Permissions Error", so I followed all the steps here https://answers.ea.com/t5/PC/Can-t-repair-game-quot-The-EA-app-requires-full-control/m-p/14215753. went into the advanced settings of the app EA and saw that full permissions were granted already. My VPN isn't blocking anything either I tried to fix it via that as well. 

Tried then uninstalling EA the app, said the app was running in the background and I couldn't uninstall with it running, so I tired reinstalling it on chrome and redownloading the Sims and that didn't work either. 

Someone help me I am losing my marbles. 

  • @Ajrisupercool  Restart your computer, and make sure the EA App and the EABackgroundService are NOT running in the Task Manager.  (The latter would be under background processes.)  Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and use it to remove the EA App; choose the Intensive scanning method when asked.  Restart again, download a fresh copy of the installer, and run it as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Then see whether the App loads properly.
