Cant screenshot ingame/tabbing out/black screen

I use cc and mods in my game. When i load into the main screen and click the box that lists all of my loaded cc etc my screen goes black for a few seconds before reappearing. This also happens whenever i tab back into my game, but not when i tab out. Aswell as this i cant take a screenshot in game like ive always done. Whenever i attempt to take a screenshot it tabs me straight out of the game and dosnt capture anything. Im no talking about when you press "c" in game and u get a little picture im talking about using print screen on my keyboard. I had this issue a week ago and managed to somehow fix it when i updated my drives but now i cant seem to find a fix for this again.

  • Lakenshot  The problem tabbing back and forth used to be a common issue with the DirectX 11 version of Sims 4, but it was supposed to have been fixed a few patches ago.  Using PrntScrn also counts as tabbing out in this case, at least as far as it started off not working in DX11 mode.  What version are you currently running?  You can see it at the Main Menu, in the lower-left corner of the screen.

For the screen going black when you close the list of mods and cc, I haven't heard of that before, at least not recently.  If you just want that not to happen, you can suppress the mods/cc pop-up at the Main Menu.  This will also speed up the initial loading time, so it's worth trying at least.

puzzlezaddict Thanks for taking the time to respond! I was always using PrntScrn before and it never tabbed me out. Im currently running version 1.115.253.1020 DX11 .

I turned off my cc being shown at startup like you said and but it didnt make a difference to my screen going black for a few seconds everytime i tab into the game. Maybe if i switch to DX9?

  • I fixed this by changing from fullscreen to windowed and its seemed to do the trick! No more black screen and i can screenshot again. Thanks for the help :)

  • Lakenshot  Glad to hear it.  If DirectX 9 mode also fixes or fixed your issue, I can merge your thread with the master feedback thread for DX11 issues, so that it's clear this is still a problem in DX11 mode.
