Constant crashing after Cottage Living installation - please help!

Hello,

I downloaded Cottage Living this past week and tried the game out this weekend. The first day, there were no major issues. I noticed that there were lags when switching into build/buy mode and that the loading screens were pretty laggy, with skips in the music which has never happened before. But this did not bother me too much. However, I saw that my sims could only travel with one other sim so I decided to repair my game.

Prior to starting my game on the second day, I repaired it. I also updated my computer to ensure that it wasn't causing the lagging. My Origin and graphics card software are fully up to date. However, after taking these steps, my game began to crash. Sometimes the crashes would happen within 5-10 minutes of each other, at other times I could play upwards of an hour without any crashing.

I reached out to EA support multiple times but it wasn't very helpful - usually they'd just suggest for me to try something, I'd try it, and then the game would still crash. I do have some mods, but they are not invasive (CAS, build/mode items mostly). I tried removing my mods but it was really difficult to tell if they were causing the issue or not, because the game could run for several hours and then crash.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I've taken:

- Reinstalled Origin / ran Origin as admin

- Cleared my cache

- Flush DNS

I have all of the packs except for the bite the dust and the exercise outfits kits.

I really don't know what else can be done. I do think the issue is with my game, because I had no problems at all until I downloaded the expansion. Honestly life has been kind of stressful lately and I use Sims as an escape, but playing with a constant risk of crashes only makes me more anxious. If someone has any idea of how to fix this, I'd be deeply appreciative.

    @puzzlezaddict I found a solution!

    Basically I just stopped playing Sims for a while due to the crashing, but during this time I remembered that when I got the new expansion pack I also used Sims 4 Studio to update my mods. I had updated my skins to make them compatible with the recent update, but after this update the crashes began.

    I went back to the original versions of the skin files and re-downloaded those instead and the crashes have since stopped. It looks like the files which were modified using Sims 4 Studio were for some reason breaking the game. This is odd because I've never had issues using Sims 4 Studio before, but I'm glad to have finally isolated the issue!
