CRASHES WITH NEW LAPTOP

I have been using Sims 4 on my 13 year old pc. The hard drive stopped. I purchased an Acer Predator Helios 18 gaming laptop. Now after reinstalling it on my new laptop it crashes shortly after going into create a sim. Within 5 minutes of making my sim it crashes. I have tried just starting the create a sim and leaving it sit. It doesn't crash until I start making my sim. I have read previous posts and tried following directions, even for a clean start. NOTHING WORKS.

My dxdiag

I ran the 3D Mark demo twice the results were almost the same: steel nomad score 3126 DX12; 31.27fps. Is that good or bad? It looked way below average. Is there a problem with my graphics card? I have an appointment tomorrow at Best Buy to have the tech guys look at it.

Ok I did what you suggested and it worked. I made a new account just like you said and I played sims for 4 hours without crashing. Why did that happen? How do I correct that on my main account?

Ok forget what I just wrote. It's crashing again. I went to get my one cheat mods MC command center by deadpool on patreon. I have been using it for a long time, no problem. So I removed the mod and went back to play. it  crashed within 2 minutes. WHAT IS HAPPANING? I have no choice but to keep the best buy appointment for tomorrow.  WHAT DO IDO NOW?

  • Joeharkay  I think the tech appointment is your best option now.  The problem could still be software, for example a virus, but someone looking at the computer in-person will have a better chance of figuring that out.  (You could still run a Malwarebytes custom scan if you wanted; let me know if you'd like instructions.)  If this is a hardware issue, it's sometimes difficult to diagnose over the internet, and while I could keep trying, you'll probably save yourself a lot of time by letting a tech do a thorough diagnostic checkup.

That's what I'm going to do.

I'll let you know what happens when I get the pc back.

Ok I'm back. Here is the problem with the pc causing the crashes in all 13th and 14th generation Intel processors. There is a problem with the chips overpowering the motherboard causing the shut downs. the repair or only fix is to go to the manufacturers website and download the bios update. Most but not all manufacturers have a fix. ACER DOESN'T have a fix. Lucky for me ir was less that 30 nays old so Best Buy was able to exchange it for another brand. I don't have it yet. When I do I'll let you know if it works.

That is strange, I mean I know about the issue (and have diagnosed it myself a few times), but as far as I've seen, it's only affected desktops, not laptops, even from this generation.  But given that the interim fix on desktops, which is to disable the overclocking settings, is typically not available in laptop BIOS, there really isn't anything to do except wait for a BIOS update, or exchange the system as you have.  I'm sorry it took so long to figure this out, but at least you have an answer, and hopefully soon, a laptop that's more cooperative than this one.
