My game suddenly got very pixelated

Hello,

I have been playing Sims for few years straight now and never had this issue. My setting are all at max but the picture is super pixelated, especially looking from a distance.  I have reinstalled drivers and reinstalled the whole game. Tried without mods and gshade, still the same. Please help, those pixels really effect my gameplay and I dont want to play at all..

Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700 CPU @ 2.90GHz, 2901 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)Installed Physical Memory (RAM)    48,0 GB

Driver NVIDIA GeForce 2060

  • Mundirrka  Please move Options.ini out of Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and onto your desktop.  This will reset all in-game settings.  Don't touch anything yet; just have a look around.  If that doesn't help, disable post processing, but nothing else yet, and quit and reload the game.

If that doesn't help either, please disable Edge Smoothing and close the game.  Right-click the desktop, select the Nvidia Control Panel, choose Manage 3D Settings > Program settings, choose ts4_x64, and set Antialiasing to override the application settings.  Then play with the other AA options.  I'd suggest starting with something like this:

    Antialiasing - FXAA: On
    Antialiasing - Gamma correction: On
Antialiasing - Mode: Override any Application Setting
Antialiasing - Setting: 2x [or higher]

  • Thank you for fast reply! Somehow, these Control Panel AA settings dont make any difference..

  • Mundirrka  Try again but while using Dynamic Super Resolution, which tells the GPU to render the game at a higher resolution and scale it down.  For example, if your monitor's resolution is 1920x1080, choosing 1.778x would make the GPU render the game at 2560x1440.  4x would be 4k on a 1080p monitor and probably too high, but you can try it if you want.

If that doesn't help either, I'd like to look over a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

its like super pixelated and pixels sort of jump around..

  • I'm having the same problem. So far I've only found 2 other people that are having this issue and it started for all of us after January update.

  • Mundirrka  Dynamic Super Resolution is an option in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Before messing with that, however, please set your main monitor to run at its native 1920x1080 resolution rather than the 1366x768 it's currently using.  The option is in Windows Settings > System > Display.

If that doesn't help, please set the user DPI to 96 (100%), and restart your computer.  Here's how:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/change-display-dpi-scaling-level-in-windows-11.934/

Even if you don't like the changes in general, it would be useful to know whether they help.
