Crashing minutes later during gameplay

Cookie_Heartss_​  Can you play with the EA App in offline mode?  That would normally let you play without updating, although sometimes it doesn't work.  And it would also be a helpful test—I'd like to know whether the game freezes after an hour while offline.  If it does, repeat the test but with your entire computer offline too.

I'm sorry for the delayed response. I wanted to wait for a safe time to update the game, as the new update has caused issues for many players. So I'm not able to go into the game yet, but I'll provide as much info as I can.

After about an hour of gameplay, my game randomly freezes for a few seconds before closing. My Sims are just in the house managing their needs when this happens.

My lot is in San Sequoia.

Cookie_Heartss_​  That's an improvement, at least.  But what happens after an hour?  If you're getting a crash, please let me know where you're playing (what world and lot) and what your sims are doing.  Please also post a new dxdiag.  If something else is happening, describe what you see.

I researched some stuff that was possibly junk files and successfully freed up 36GB! I've tested out my game, but the only thing wrong is that I can't play longer than an hour.

Cookie_Heartss_​  You'll need to to a bit of searching to figure out what's eating the data on C.  Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, double-click the C drive, and check the sizes of the folders inside by right-clicking and selecting Properties > General.  If you see a folder that's larger than you expect, open its subfolders and repeat until you find the extra data.

As an example, I've seen players with an entire second copy of Sims 4 installed on their computers.  That would only take up around 60 GB, but in that case, removing it would give you more than enough free space to work with, and you wouldn't need to do anything else.

Depending on your settings, you may not see all files and folders, for example the page file is hidden by default.  It's fairly large, about 43 GB on your system, but that's within reason and not nearly enough to account for the low free space.

If you're not sure what you're looking at, feel free to post screenshots or list folder sizes and contents.

Yep, it's using the folder. This is quite odd, but I hope I can determine what's causing the issue and find a solution to decrease my storage. But I did everything you asked, and my game still crashes. I have no idea what to do, and I can't figure out what is causing my game to act like this. Is there anything else I can give you so you can figure out what could be the cause? Or anything I can do?

Cookie_Heartss_​  Have you confirmed that the game is using the Documents folder on E? Check the date on Config.log inside the Sims 4 folder.  This file refreshes each time you launch the game, so if its modified date is older, then the game isn't reading that folder.  Here's how to find the folder it IS using if it's not the one you expect:

I hope this isn’t a big problem, but my Documents folder is on my E drive. This is why I’ve been confused about losing space since I changed its location a year ago. Also, my Documents folder doesn’t show up in the sidebar and just looks like a regular folder. 

But to answer your question, it only has 128 MB. I’m sorry if this is confusing.

Cookie_Heartss_​  Your computer will have two Sims 4 folders, one with the game's program files and one with the user data (saves, mods and cc, etc.).  The program files go where you tell the EA App to install the game; the user data goes into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 regardless of where the game itself is installed.

How large is the Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts?  You can right-click it and select Properties > General to see the size.

Since you can't load your main save without your Mods folder, please test a new save, for comparison's sake.

Small update: Trying without my mods just makes it endless loading because I have a lot of mods on the save.
