EA App immediately crashes upon launching The Sims 4
I own The Sims 4 on Steam, but this error occurs regardless of whether I launch it via Steam or via the EA App.
I'll click Play to launch the game. A few seconds pass, and then an error message appears from the EA App saying "the app crashed unexpectedly. We ran into a problem, but a quick restart should fix it." It gives me the option to either Restart App or Exit. It doesn't matter which one I select - in both cases, the EA App remains running in the background (I can see by checking Task Manager and the icon remains in the taskbar). If I terminate the EA App process and try again, the same error occurs.
I think it's important to note that before this behavior started happening, I had removed a certain Windows 11 feature update that broke my machine. It was causing extremely frequent freezes/crashes. After I removed that update, the issue was resolved, but then I started getting this new issue with The Sims 4.
Here are the things I've verified and tried thus far:
- My GPU is fine and all drivers are up to date. I verified this by checking the config.log.
- Restarted the PC multiple times.
- Verified the integrity of the game files through Steam.
- Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the game.
- Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the EA App.
- Restarted the PC a few more times.
- Checked for available Windows updates, none are available.
