houxxx You can remove all your Sims 4-related data by moving or renaming the Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts. The files would be intact but not read by the game. If you're using OneDrive, or even if it's running at all, pause syncing first. Right-click the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen to see the option.
Deleting this folder would be equivalent for testing purposes, but then you'd have deleted your saves and other user data when that's not necessary.
However, I don't think this will help considering all you had to do was download a cc item, not even add it to your user folder. That means the problem likely isn't in your user folder at all—how could it be when the problem shows up before you touch anything in that folder?
Still, you can keep testing if you like, in whatever way you like. Let me know what you find.
puzzlezaddict I think it’s probably worth still doing it since I’ll have to play on the new user. There’s only one family and one lot I had started to build on but even then I’ve only been working on the outside which has very little on it so there’s really not that much to lose.
I suggested it because it was the only thing I could think of, my knowledge for computers is basic and it’s the same for sims. I was probably more of a wiz for sims like ten years ago but then I stopped playing for the longest time and now that I’ve returned, I’ve had to learn everything again. The laptop I’m using is secondhand but still decent enough to run sims.
It’s definitely frustrating to not be able to find the actual issue but maybe one day someone might come across this forum and be able to say what it was.
Thank you for your solution in the meantime!
