Extreme Game Lag After Removing All mods & CC

I was playing offline to avoid having to update to the March 17th patch, but my game and Lenovo Ideapad 3 were both insanely slow and I figured it was my mods so I removed all of them, cleared the cache and deleted the resource.cfg, repaired the game (which updated it lol), even started a new Sims 4 file entirely. My game is still so incredibly slow without any mods or cc that it’s too difficult to play. Camera rotation is twitchy and slow, Sim animations are extremely twitchy, opening any menu takes at least 5 minutes (it was never even that slow WITH mods) and hovering over UI options is so laggy that when I click on one thing, the game thinks I’m clicking where the cursor was 2 seconds ago. If it matteres, my CPU is running at 89%-93% just on the main menu… pls help!! 😭

Alright, I attempted the clean boot, and when the laptop restarted, it lost power the second I unlocked it. It’s plugged into the charger so idk why it did that. It turns back on fine but it had me input my BitLocker key, then told me my device ran into a problem and couldn’t be repaired because it couldn’t connect to the network. I don’t have an Ethernet cable on hand at the moment, but I clicked the “continue to windows” option and then it just lost power again. At this point I’m 99.99% sure it’s my computer and I want to set it on fire

So please try playing in a clean boot (not a clean Windows install, just a way of disabling services):

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

If this helps, you can selectively reenable services until you find the culprit, then either leave that disabled or (if it belongs to an app you want to keep using) let me know what it is so we can try to fix the underlying issue.

If the game freezes or crashes in a clean boot, please try again, except with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

Okay so the lag seems to happen whether I launch the game immediately after restarting my computer or let the computer idle for a bit before launching the game. I've attached the DxDiag, I really hope this helps locate the problem. Before the Ea app automatically updated my game on March 18th, I had about 5k items of CC and Mods which I deleted and decided to just try to play "Vanilla". I uninstalled and reinstalled the game yesterday, there were 56 add-ons to download on top of base game so I'd understand a LITTLE temporary lag but this is insane lol. Please forgive any tech-stupidity on my part, I have no idea what I'm doing

  • yallcrusty  Does this happen if you restart your computer immediately before trying to play?  Please test and let me know.

If that doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
