Extreme lag and game keeps crashing.

Since the update, my game has extreme lag, to the point it's unplayable. It is regularly crashing too. I've changed all the settings to see if that makes a difference but it doesn't. I initially thought something was wrong with my laptop but I now think it's the game. Never had issues like this before.

Hi, so it appears there was an issue with a windows update that kept disabling the graphics card. After a LOT of faffing, I've managed to sort it, thanks so much.

  • NNoodles86  Your dxdiag makes the issue, or at least the main issue, clear: your laptop's graphics chip has been disabled.  To reenable it, click Windows key-X, select the Device Manager, expand Display Adapters, right-click the AMD Radeon entry, and select Enable.  Restart your computer before opening Sims 4.

Your C drive is also very low on free space, and D is somewhat low too.  This could definitely cause issues after you've reenabled the graphics chip, so please try to clear at least another 16 GB on C, for a total of 25 free.  The Downloads folder is a good place to look for extraneous files.

hayessammi70  Please let me know which of these issues happen in a new save, with no mods or custom content installed.  Once we figure out what's the game itself, we can backtrack from there.  Please also provide a dxdiag as described above.

  • I'm having the same issue with crashing. sims that visit my small business just randomly disappear, game completely crashes and kicks me out to ea app. I've also had issues where the game randomly deletes my employees. It has never done this only started with the update on the 27th. super confused. My laptop is fine not overheating not throwing any codes. Can play games like dont starve for hours with no issue only issues with sims.
