Game constantly crashing

Since a few weeks now (I have tried playing every now & then just for it to crash again), my game has been unplayable. I deleted all mods, the cashe etc., even uninstalled and reinstalled both EA and all of my Sims games + expansion packs, but even when I then started with a completely fresh game the same issue comes up. A few minutes after starting my game, sometimes even 30, it will crash, however if I open build mode, it's not even 5 minutes until it 100% crashes. I updated/checked my hardware & all my graphic settings in-game are basically as low as can be. Do you have any idea what's wrong or what I could do?

I somehow couldn't attach the lastcrash file normally, so I copy pasted its contents into a word file... I hope this works for you, otherwise please tell me how else to do it and I will! 🙂

  • @MidnightAS  Thanks for all the info, but your dxdiag alone makes the issue clear: it's a problem with your laptop's graphics chip and driver and the DirectX 9 version of Sims 4.  You can force the game to run in DirectX 11 mode: open the EA App, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and enter -dx11 in the command line box.

You could also update the graphics driver to the newest one provided by Intel, but that's not always a good idea with laptops—the manufacturer has often tuned the driver it provides to work better with that particular hardware.  Still, if you'd like to try, here's the newest driver:

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/232153/intel-core-i51335u-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-60-ghz/downloads.html

If you do want to try it, run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer afterwards and before trying to play.

@puzzlezaddict THANK YOU SO MUCH!! <333 I expected to wait super long for an answer or that maybe the issue can't be found. I'm immediately trying this & updating on whether that solved it!

I am having this same issue but it doesn't fix whether I try -dx9 or -dx11. I have no mods in the folder and I have repaired the game and updated my drivers

@puzzlezaddict I meant to say this earlier, IT WORKED! 🙂) No crashes after a few hours of playing, I think you solved it fully so thank you soso much once more!
  • @tiggyino you could also post your dxdiag, config.log & last crash in the forum, then someone could see more in detail what is the problem with your specific game! 🙂
