cf94c5697071cdec Windows Defender is usually fine, but if you have Controlled Folder Access enabled, try disabling only that.
I also want to mention that sometimes the "failed to launch game" error happens after the game has been closed or crashed, when the computer has not been restarted. So if you're not restarting between sessions, whether you're testing or actually playing, and you tend to get the error in those cases, please restart every time you want to play. This is an EA App issue, not Sims 4, as far as I can tell.
