Game Freezes

After the update I can not control one of my sims or even see moods or click on the phone. I exit and restart still the same. I uninstalled mods and still the same. I still continued to play and decided to go into build mode to put stuff in inventory and upgrade my house and when I finished and went back to live mode it froze and will not let me do anything.  What do I do?

  • lilstraycat  Please test a new save.  If that doesn't work, test another new save but in a clean folder.

Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

Doing that seems to work so far. No issues. Does that mean I will not be able to play my other saves?

  • lilstraycat  You can try one of your old saves in the clean user folder, that is if you made one.  If that doesn't help, try a different (previously unplayed) household within one of your main saves—the question is whether the issue is save-wide or limited to one or a few households.

If you can't play your main households but others work, try moving one of your households to a new lot, either a blank one or a default Maxis build, i.e. one that's there when you start a new save.  The problem could be the lot and not the sims.
