Game Lags After July 1st Update

RenanPisi​  The Asus System Analysis software, or anything from My Asus, doesn't need to be running while you play, or maybe at all.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised it's still active in a clean boot, but please go back and see whether you can disable it there.  If not, find it in the Task Manager (likely in the background processes list, possibly more than one entry) and end it before opening the game.  And if and when the lag comes back, see whether anything you disabled has started itself again.

This kind of software has its uses, but more often than not, it introduces significant overhead for no good reason and can conflict with games or other heavy software.

puzzlezaddict​ I tried disabling EVERYTHING but the essentials to play the game, but I still experience major lag at times.

No ASUS, no Avast, no internet, no any other unnecessary software or service.

I guess it’s safe to infer that the game became laggy after the update since it was running perfectly well before.

Hi! Answer these questions pls:

1. Have you tried turning FPS on and monitor when the lag spikes trigger?

2. While in-game, playing normally, monitor your resources in task manager and take a look at gpu, cpu and ram usage.

3. Does the lag occur randomly? There are packa from the game where lagging is more prominent after update 1.115 (like San Mushyno - this patch broke some apartments cause black walls and etc)

Im asking this because, since you have no mods, it might be a problem with the game loading incorrectly and causing over usage of ram.

Is the camera movement choppy when you pan around the world? 

I had major graphical performance lag after the BH patch, (frames down to low 30's). Turns out the graphical changes that they made after that patch did not work for my computer setup at all, the solution was following a thread where I change the LOD settings in a graphicsrules.sgr file override.

Since it can be bit difficult to navigate in that thread I will summarize here what I did: 

To do this you need a text editor, like notepad,  other editors that work better are notepad++ and visual studio code.

1. Go to this location where The Sims 4 is installed (The Sims 4/Game/Bin) and copy GraphicsRules.sgr and Ts4CommonRules.sgr to your ConfigOverride folder which is located in The Sims 4 document files /My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/ConfigOverride. You have now created what's called an override which you can edit and that the game will read instead of the original one in the Bin folder. If you want the game to read the original one you can just delete or move those files from the configoverride folder.
2. Download the graphicsrules.sgr from this creators site: https://www.patreon.com/posts/55891224 we will not use this file but we will copy and change the LOD (level of detail) settings used in that file.
3. Go to this post in the thread and look at the pictures posted: Camera movements very choppy since BH patch | EA Forums - 12185589
4. the picture to the left is the graphicsrules.sgr file that was downloaded from that creator site, the picture to the right is the graphicsrules.sgr file that they copied to their configoverride folder.
5.  open both files and make the changes that they do in the pictures, your graphicsrules.sgr file should look like the one to the right. it can also be a good idea to save your changes in steps and start the game to make sure that you don't mess up the code, if the code has syntax error the game will show an error message.
6. save the file and start the game, if you have done it right, the game will now run with these changed LOD settings.

It actually made it worse. 🥲 That’s how random this lag is. Sometimes I can play for hours without any lag, other times I can’t even play for 2 min because of how bad it gets. I even bought a cooling pad because I thought overheating could be an issue but it didn’t make any difference. Thank you for your time and your help, though.logionX​ 

1. In-game press press ctrl+shift+c (open console) type fps on. It will show how many fps you have on the bottom left corner (google it for an accurate image)
2. Besides checking, post your PC specs pls (GPU, CPU and Ram) do you have a SSD or HDD drive? Im asking this cause HDD vs SSD can cause performance issues due to loading of textures.
3. Do stress test for 40min and time, with the help of the FPS counter, when the lag and FPS drop happens.
