Game launching without showing up

Hi, sorry if this is a bit of a weird issue, I'll try to explain as best I can, but let me know if the issue isn't clear.

Basically, I launch my game like normal (from my desktop, the EA app or Steam, it doesn't matter, nothing changes), I get the usual "Game preparation" window, it closes as usual and then... Nothing. The game doesn't launch, no matter how long I wait, but EA app and Steam both tell me the game is currently in session (interestingly enough, my Discord is linked to my Steam account but doesn't pick up on the game being played). The game also doesn't show up in my taskbar, and I cannot do anything to close it once it is "launched" (cannot exit EA app or move/edit/delete files either).

I've deleted the cache, tried removing my mods before "launch", tried disconneting and reconnecting my EA account in the EA app, tried to wait it out (been having this issues for over a week now) and tried restarting my PC, I'm not sure what else to try, any help would be very welcome. Thank you for your time <3

  • blue_alixir  Do you have Steam's family sharing or similar enabled?  (I think there's a separate friend-sharing option too.)  If so, please disable it and try again.

Otherwise, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Hey! I just tired the "clean state" option and it also worked.

What steps did you take when adding your old Sims 4 folder back? Trying to figure out if I need to delete the new one and replace with the old folder all at once, or if I need to add the contents from my old folder into the new one by one.
Edit: Yes I do have mods

Launching the game with a "clean state" worked, and I was able to get my progression back from there, thank you so much for the help, I hope you have a wonderful day
