Gifted pack not loading in game

I recently won a giveaway for the parenthood pack and after I redeemed the code and downloaded in via EA app, it will not load into my game.

I’ve deactivated all mods/cc, removed the mods file. I’ve tried a new save file and even repaired the game but nothing will work. EA app and sims is up to date as well. Restarted my computer.. Last thing I can try is re downloading the sims (which I really don’t want to do since it’s on an external drive and it was a pain to get the coding to work correctly with the documents folder)  does anyone else have this problem or know a different fix?

I have also purchased and downloaded buisness and hobbies and it worked fine since having the sims on an external drive.
also I have never had this problem whenever I have purchased a pack, this is the first time I’ve gotten one via code and it’s not working 🥲

EDIT: I looked to see if the pack was showing up under EA games folder with the other ones and it is, not sure what’s going on.

  • Eliseesims  Your second screenshot is of a folder on your C drive, which is internal.  Do you actually have two copies of Sims 4 installed?  If so, that's likely the problem: the EA App is loading data from your external drive but has installed Parenthood into the copy on your internal drive.  If this isn't what you mean, please let me know how your game is set up.

If you do have two copies of the game, make sure the App acknowledges the copy on your external drive.  Open the App, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and you'll see where the App thinks the game is installed.  If it's on C, stop here and list what you see AND the location on the external where you want the game to be located.

If the App recognizes the install on the external, close the App and kill the EABackgroundService in the Task Manager's background processes list.  Then delete the entire "The Sims 4" folder in your screenshot.  Open the App and download Parenthood, which should now be installed onto the external.

How I set it up is having the electronic arts folder on the external drive, which doesn’t show any of the installed content. Just the mods save files etc. I programmed it in the command center to link it to its original location in the documents folder, and as far as I know there’s no duplicate EA games folder anywhere. The EA app is installed directly on the C drive, I haven’t messed with that one at all. All the other EP’s and GP’s are all showing up in the EA games folder, too. I could try and put the electronic arts folder back into C drive, if you think that would fix the problem?

  • Eliseesims  That's fine then.  I thought you meant you'd installed the game on the external, in which case the folder on the internal would be redundant; but since the internal install is your only one, the pack's folder is obviously in the right place.  And no, moving the user data back to the internal drive won't make any difference here, so don't bother unless you want to for other reasons.

Instead, make sure the EA App is closed and the EABackgroundService is NOT running in the Task Manager's background processes list.  Delete the GP05 folder and restart your computer.  Clear the EA App's cache:

then download Parenthood again, and see whether it loads in-game.
