My patience is running thin. I have brought a physically brand-new copy of the Sims 4 Limited Edition for PC. I have spent the last five to six hours trying to install this. I get the same error everytime. Once I finally finish up with Disc 1, and it says: "Please insert Disc 2 of the Sims 4 Limited Edition"I put disc 2 in my laptop and what do you know? Nothing. My laptop doesn't even pick up disc 2. Mind you this is a brand-new copy from Gamestop, it was wrapped and had not a single scratch on the discs. So right now, I'm sitting here irritated as I can be with my installation stuck at 92%. I can't even exchange my copy for another because Gamestop won't allow you to exchange PC games to my knowledge. I have been a Sims fan since "The Sims", I've played 1, 2, 3, own all expansion packs for each one, and I've waited for this game for a while now. Now I can't even play it! I am extremely frustrated at the fact I feel as I have wasted $60 that I have worked my tail off to earn. Any help with this would be appreciated.

It's not a perfect solution as you it doesn't fix the second disc but this worked for me beautiful...There is an advanced method which can be used to finish the installation to avoid waiting for a replacement disk or downloading the entire game. Using this method will let you keep the data you've already installed off Disk 1, and download the remainder of the data (approximately 500MB) from the download servers instead of from Disk 2.If you wish to try it, follow these instructions exactly:0) Start the Disk installation process using The Sims 4 Disk 1.1) When the Origin prompt to insert Disk 2 appears on screen, hit Ctrl-Shift-Esc on your Keyboard to bring up Task Manager.2a) Select the 'Processes' tab (Windows Vista/7) or 'Details' tab (Windows 8).2b) Select Origin.exe from the list, and click the 'End Process' or 'End Tab' button.3) Do NOT start Origin again until Step 7 or your unfinished installation will be deleted.4) Open Windows Explorer / My Computer.5) Paste this exactly into the Address Bar: C:\ProgramData\Origin\LocalContent6) Delete the folder named The Sims 4. (Do NOT delete any other folders!)7) Now start Origin again, and log into your account.8) Right-click your The Sims 4 game tile, and select 'Download'.9) Follow the download instructions.10) Once the download begins, Origin will automatically detect the existing data and start your download at around 92% completed.11) When the download/install finishes, right click your The Sims 4 game tile, and select 'Repair Game' to make sure everything is fully installed and up-to-date before playing.

same problem here simple solution thoughonce you get to disc 2 if it wants to continue saying "installing" go to your extended task manager and go to origin 32 bit and end task. open origin again and it will download everything very quickly

@friendlypete I'm going to assume your new pc (meaning not mac) has Windows 10 as the operating system. Actually is wasn't EA that changed, it was Windows 10. Windows 10 does not support SecuROM and SafeDisc which was the DRM used in TS3. The sims franchise is constantly expanding and evolving which is different from other games on the market. The game now HAS to be registered to Origin. Then the game will update to version 1.69 which will remove SecuROM and SafeDisc. Windows 10 will no longer read the data that Safedisc is expecting (data that was created by over writing the disc). SecuROM had an install limit and was considered a rootkit that could leave the computer vulnerable to attack. SafeDisc used a method of overwriting the optical disc that most optical drives could read but not write thereby the disc could not be reliably reproduced. As time progressed some optical drive manufacturers ceased to support over writing and this led to some drives would not read the data. Now Origin operates like Valve's Steam - you must create an online account and the account controls your games. As anti piracy evolves I feel the next step will be pay to play (like cable TV) with a monthly subscription (I have posted about this before). This is based on the fact that you don't OWN the software but what you pay for is a license to use the software. This has been in effect for some time (example Windows operating system activation) and is not new a new concept. In recent years the licensing of software has been brought to the foreground by the gaming industry. hth

Can you right click on the disc symbol on Computer and see if you can read the disc that way ?

I thought I was the only one!!!! [Alittle relived now that I'm not the only one... alittle]I've even tried all the tricks from back from the old Sims.I'm so damn peaved off its ridculous. It's like EA and Origin are just not listening.

I cannot finish installing the Sims 4.

well, I tried your solution and its not wirking.. the instelling stuck on 92%.. What should we all do?

Alyrajayne your solution worked for me. I call origin and ea. Asked both for help. Origin said they couldn't help and ea said it was something wrong with my laptop. They are both idiots and don't care about customer service at all.

I had the same exact problem i was very frustrated and mad and spent 4 hours online searching. I went to ea live chat help and he helped me and you have to download it through origin since youve already redeemed your code its on their you dont need the discs. just go to my games on orirgin and find the sims 4 and press download it will take an hour but it works

do you need a video clip showing this **bleep** installer isnt working?! my local distributor told me that these cds are working on them / possibly the problem is on my pc. jesus christ! i was able to run the game thru download before (in which is hustle on my part due to low internet speeds in my country) so dont tell me that my the damn problem is on my pc!

YES! I have been having problem installing my game. My second disk is in after finally installing the first one, and now it's doing absoulutely doing NOTHING.
It's a brand new limited edition ordered online No scratches, marks or even broken seal. Ive been fighting this since 3 o'clock. It is now, 7:33 ...... and now again. I'm stuck on 86%

I tried contacting Origin, and nothing happened either. I'm verry upset with EA/ Origin making this a very difficult and long process!!
