mod folder

so basically i updated my game after a few months of not playing, waited for the update to finish and launched the game as normal and it did the usual needing to allow mods again, so i do that and restart the game, but ea shuts down half way through for an update and when i finally start Sims again the screen is completely black? The music is still there but the screen was black so i figure its either a game bug or an issue with a mod so i remove the mods folder from out of the Sims folder, start the game and its working fine, i check through all the mods, update everything, and then add the folder back in, start the game up and it doesnt recognise that the folder has been added in and its saying i have no mods or cc downloaded in the game? Am i just stupid like is there a proper way to add it back idk but i just want my mods back lol
