My graphic card is not detected by the game

Hi !

I recently bought a new pc with a NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 but I had a message from the game when i launch it which said that it didn't detected the graphic card. The game still work but it's way more slow and low quality than before. The older one was a NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4050 but it used to work perfectly and high quality. I tried some advice i found online like personalize the graphic card option for the game as "high perfomance" but nothing change. I also checked in the Config.log folder and i finally had the confirmation that it's not found by the game.

So i'm a little bit lost...

If someone has an idea, I really want to hear it ! Thanks

Here my dxdiag

  • maliaast  Please set your laptop's screen to run at its native 2560x1440, as opposed to the 1920x1080 you're using now.  If the icons are too small, you can increase the DPI, but please don't do that until you've tested Sims 4 once.  Set the game to run at 2560x1440 as well.

If you'd like to get your GPU recognized, you'll want to edit GraphicsCards.sgr.  The original copy of the file is here:

    [install location]\The Sims 4\Game\Bin

Copy the file and paste it into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > ConfigOverride.  Open the file and search for Nvidia, then add this line right underneath the Nvidia line:

card 0x2820 "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU" $cardLevelUber $resolutionHigh

Make sure it's indented the same as the other lines, four spaces from the left in my file.  Save, close the file, load the game, quit, and check Config.log again.  You should see a Found: 1 instead of 0.  If you do, the edit was done correctly and it's time to test the game.

If the above doesn't help, please post a couple of screenshots of the blurriness so I can get a better idea of what might be happening.

Hi ! Sorry I didn't saw your message until now. I don't see the Intel Arc GPU and I always play with my laptop plugged. I just tried to remove my mods, cc etc...  but it's still the same. My game can still be used but the visual quality is very blur.

  • maliaast  The unrecognized video card isn't a problem, in that it's not causing the game to run poorly and there's no benefit to fixing it.  However, the game would run worse if it's not using your RTX 4070 at all.  Have you confirmed in Config.log that the 4070 is in use?  If you see the Intel Arc GPU instead, let me know.

There's no obvious problem in your dxdiag that would explain why the game isn't running well either.  Do you play with the laptop plugged in?  If not, try that and let me know whether it helps.

If that's not the issue, please start a new save, with no mods or custom content present (remove your Mods folder entirely if you use mods or cc), and see how it runs.
