ThalitaHellfire Then I'd like to see a dxdiag from you.
thomp1208 Since the clean folder worked, that means the problem is something in your old folder, most likely your mods or custom content. Sort through the Mods folder first. Here's a list of mods and cc known to be broken after the most recent major patch:
For everything else, you'll need to test yourself. If you have a lot of files to go through, the 50/50 method can make the process much more efficient:

Once you've done that, you can move over the contents of the saves and Tray folders, plus Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you care about those. The rest can be discarded.
I have exactly the same problem. I’ve found various options on the internet that are supposed to work (including the things you mentioned), but none of them work for me.
At first, I thought it might be an issue with my laptop (or even my region), but since more people seem to be struggling with this, that seems increasingly unlikely. I wonder if it has something to do with the new expansion pack, as I’ve seen more people with the same issue in recent weeks.
S0ph1A123 Please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.
If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag. Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
I did as you suggested, and am able to play a new save- no mods of course. what is your next suggested step?
