My Sims 4 keeps freezing

Hi there. I have been playing Sims 4 for a little bit now and I didn't used to have a problem of it freezing. More recently, my screen will freeze, and it may or may not fix itself. Yesterday, when I tried loading up my game, it wouldn't go to fullscreen like usual and I could still see my taskbar. When I tried changing the screen fill, it instantly froze and won't fix itself. I can't even change the screen fill anymore. I have tried clearing the Sims 4 cache AND my EA cache, but nothing works. I can't figure out how to contact EA to see if they will fix it for me. Is there anything I can try? I am really frustrated with this, and nothing has worked so far.

  • feverdreams_13  Does this happen with no mods or custom content present?  If you do use mods or cc, please remove the Mods folder and delete localthumbcache.package, and test again.  You don't need to save your progress.

If this doesn't help, or you have no mods or cc at all, please test a different household in a different world in this save (you don't need to save here either), and a new save as well.  The question is whether the freezes are limited to one save or household or are global.

Please also provide a dxdiag, for reference.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
