My Sims 4 WON'T OPEN!!!!

Hi, EA!

So since yesterday, I've been trying to play the Sims 4, one of my favorite games. However, it just will. not. start. I've tried EVERYTHING; I've done a clean reboot, I've repaired it through Origin, I've run the game as an administrator, I've deleted the Origin cache files, I've even uninstalled and reinstalled it. Basically, everything you can think of, I've most likely already done, and it still won't open! I click play and it'll think about it for a few seconds and that nothing will happen. It's very frustrating, and hopefully, you can help.

    Hi @PengwernzFTW

Ensure that your Firewall and/or Antivirus are not blocking the connection. The easiest way would be adding an exception for the Origin Client and your game to the exclusion list.Add firewall/antivirus exceptions for Origin and open the needed ports http://help.ea.com/en/article/connection-issues-with-origin/#1

Add antivirus exclusions(exceptions) specific files Origin, folders Origin or file extensions origin.ex from scanning.(very important to do )

Delete temp files: open the Start Menu and type %temp%  in the Search field  or click in the Run option in the Start Menu and type %temp% in the Run field.Press Enter and a Temp folder should open. You can delete all files found in this folder, and if any files are in use, they can be skipped.

    Restart your machine.

Run the setup file Origin with Admin rights  http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-do-i-run-a-program-or-a-game-as-an-administrator/#2

Go in Origin / My Game Library- right click on game icon ,select Repair and Update game and now try to start your game.

My Opinion is no more important or right than yours.I'm a gamer like you, trying to help you (i'm not an EA employee).

I'm having the same issues too! I've done all that you have and even clicked repair game on Origin, still no Sims 4. I did not encounter this problem until I downloaded Cats and Dogs that I purchased from Best Buy on yesterday. Could this be the issue? I received the key code and went to Origin. It downloaded, I clicked play. Sims 4 started up but then the screen went blank. I can still hear the music and I am able to move my mouse and it changes from an arrow to a finger pointing but I have no visual at all. Please help!

    Hi @tamyrj@PengwernzFTW and @SimsfanaticOrgin

what happens exactly when you try to open ? Do you get any error messages ? Where are you stuck ?

Are you using any mods/cc in your game ?

Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?

To gather a DxDiag on your computer, please follow the steps here: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

You can attach the txt file to your post directly.

Also moved this to the Sims forum.

Yes I do use CC, but that has never made my game unable to even play in the first place. I HAVE had custom content files that corrupted my game, but all that did was that it would stop responding while the game itself was loading.

This is what happens when I try to start my Sims 4; so I log into Origin and press 'Play' on TS4. The Play button then becomes greyed out for a couple seconds, and then it goes back to being orange as if I had never clicked it and started the game in the first place. If I look on the Task Manager, it shows that The Sims 4 is running for a couple of seconds, then it disappears.

Also I've linked the DxDiag file too if you wanted to see that 🙂

Did you try removing your mods folder (move it to your desktop) and try again? All mods can effect the game differently, so it's worth a try. If it happened after the last update/game installation there might be mods that need an update.
Here's a list with incompatible/updated mods after the latest patch 🙂
    https://simsvip.com/2017/11/07/incompatible-modsupdates-november-7-2017-patch/

I have had a problem that seems like yours before, it was mod-related, so yours could be too. I hope it is, so you can get it to work soon!
    Fingers crossed 🙂
