Need Help Fixing My Game

So I feel like after everyone has updated the sims last week it has just caused many problems. I updated my game and downloaded two new pack I went through and removed my script mods plus my broken mods including CC. The game worked as normal I made my household with the new pack and went to load up a lot in the new enchanted buy nature pack just to get stuck on a loading screen for at least 30 mins. I removed all my CC and mods and I was able to play the game as normal for about 10 mins then I could not click on anything change sims ect. I had to use task manager to close the game. Here is my question now, I have removed script mods, CC and broken CC, removed the local thumb cache everything you could imagine to fix the game, I saw that people were able to repair the game through the EA app this isn't working for me at all (typical for the app) I am at a total lost I love the game and I really heartbroken that it isn't working. What do I do?

  • bharro88  If you have any files in ConfigOverride, please remove them.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you see any other issues, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

As for repairing, do you have a Steam install?  In that case, you'd need to repair through Steam.  If you've installed through the EA App though, please let me know what happens when you try to repair.

I got it working by removing the sims 4 folder the lots loaded in fine i can click and move things now. Is there a way to get it to run with my saves at all? And how do you repair through steam?

  • bharro88  You can try copying one of your saves to the new folder, to see whether it works.  If it does, try your other saves too.

Be sure to test any mods or custom content you want to keep using, but separately from your saves so you can tell what's causing any issues you see.

To repair through Steam, right-click the Sims 4 tile in your library and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of the game files.
