Please Help DLC issues

Hi!! So I bought the cats and dogs pack through EA even though i use steam to actually play sims 4. For some reason i cannot get the DLC to show up in my game. Ive tried mostly everything but if you have any idea please reply im willing to try almost anything lol. When i check the installer log for the actual file of cats and dogs it says i need the base game installed (which obviously i have it installed)

Yeah ive checked and tried to create a pet. And how would i test without my mods without deleting them? At the time I purchased the pack and tried to download it I did not have any mods but its worth a try.

It sadly did not work. Do you have any other things I can try?

  • al6xis  The only thing I can think of at the moment is to do another clean uninstall and reinstall of the game, but this time, create a new admin Windows account when you're reinstalling, AND create a new Steam library in which you'll install Sims 4.

If this doesn't help, I'll keep trying, but it might be easier to get a refund from EA rather than pursuing this issue further.  Sims 4 DLC isn't eligible for automatic refunds, but if you contact EA customer support and say you've never been able to use the content (and you can link this thread as a reference), support may be willing to issue a refund.

You'd need to talk to a real person, in real time, for this to work.  If you don't see the live chat option, try a slightly different category of issue.  When I choose Sims 4 > [all topics] > I need help loading my game, I see live chat under some help articles.

Like I said, I can keep trying, but I don't want to waste more of your time if nothing is going to work.  You can try buying C&D from Steam rather than EA next time, and wait for a sale if it's more convenient.  Steam has Sims 4 sales about as frequently as EA, although not always at exactly the same times.

Hi, just an update. I contacted them adn they said I have to have the EA sims 4 and I cant have the Steam sims 4. So if you know anyway for me to be able to transfer progress to the EA sims 4 thatd help a lot. They also cant refund me so it kind of sucks.

  • al6xis  That is definitely not the case: EA should be able to refund you for any purchase made through EA provided you're eligible or can convince a support rep to help.  Let me ask around and get back to you.

As for transferring progress, you wouldn't need to do anything to transfer your saves.  However, your Steam-owned DLC won't work with an EA App install no matter what you do, so that's not a viable option unless you want to buy everything again.

Hey so I uninstalled the game through steam and then reinstalled through EA and that did work so i did end up getting it!! Im very relieved lol but im not sure why it wouldnt let me use it through steam…

  • al6xis  You should absolutely have been able to use the pack through Steam as well as through the EA App.  The problem is that any packs you bought through Steam won't be available when you play only through the EA App.  If you don't own any such packs, ir you don't mind losing them, then that's fine.  But I thought you DID have Steam-based content you didn't want to lose, hence this long list of suggestions.
