Re: Gallery - Could not locate this item

Hi,

I am having this issues for months now, since the 1st update after i installed sims 4.

i got sims 4 from origin for free, when they were giving it away for free.

months later they ran an update, so i updated my game.

1st Error - The screenshots are not saving. I tried contacting EA tech support but they are of no help. So i gave up and just used my gforce to screenshot my gameplay.

I started adding Mods with their animations.

2nd Error - Nothing is loading in my gallery. Everything is X'ed out and whenever i click it it says cannot be found. I didnt attempt to contact EA tech support, not a big deal anyway. a month later, another Sims update (and ofcors i updated the mods and animations as per their creators)

3rd Error - I cannot upload anything in my own gallery. Now this is the last draw and its pissing me off. I emptied the mods folder and did everything I read here, even went to the extent to actually configure my firewall to allow everything SIMS related to use whatever packing ports they went to enter and exit risking malware/virus attack and when that didnt work I disabled my whole antivirus. But its not working ☹️ its still showing me those red X and i still cannot upload my work into the gallery ☹️

i read somewhere that if the game was pirated the gallery does not work. I'm wondering could it be my gallery is disabled coz EA wants me to get their paid base Sims 4 game? coz i got mine for free? But i got it from them for Free. that's kinda sneaky of them if its the case.

btw, the antivirus is back on line and my firewall as well and all ports are back to its original security setting. just an FYI if someone reading this will try to do some redhat blackhat thing on me.

    I hope someone sees this. I'm having the same issue as the person above. I have removed all cc, repaired the game, added sims to the exclusions and I"m still having this problem. I've already reinstalled. My sisters have the same cc as myself and they are not having this issue.

    Looks like you both have a common issue which may or may not involve mods/cc as a contributing factor.
    Mods and custom content (CC) can be fun to use but unfortunately they cause unexpected results.
    They need to be updated by the creators to continue to play nice with the game.
    Testing on a vanilla (no mods/cc) folder is the best way to investigate causes of issues.
    When adding/testing/deleting mods and/or cc it is important to delete the localthumbcache.package and any other cache files.

    The issue with screenshots is rare but not an unheard off issue.
    Screenshots are usually saved in a date/time format like 09-22-19_2-59-42 PM as an example.
    You can try to search your computer to see if they are being saved elsewhere on your computer.
    Cloud storage can also route any photo or screenshot to an external storage site.
    I recently set up a new computer and OneDrive was automatically enabled.
    At first I did not realize my Sims folder was automatically redirected to be saved on OneDrive.
    After resetting the permissions everything is where is is supposed to be.

    Many helpers here at AnswersHQ have played the Sims for many years and versions.
    Helping other players solve issues and be able to enjoy the game is why I am here.
    The free copy of the base game was intended to introduce the game and make it available to more players like you.
    At this point the current base game has been greatly enriched by additional free content and a greatly improved version of the original.

    On that note I would like to share some information about patches.
    Crinrict has a very helpful guide on her blog on how to prepare for a patch.

    Following this guide can prevent issues that may be caused by mods/cc that can conflict with game code.

    Iv once again deleted all the mods and ccs and deleted the cache file as you mentioned. 

    Gallery is still giving me the big red X.

    Searched the screenshots. Nothing. No other sims folder except the legit one that the game created in my documents.

    @EuphorialQueen By the way, that link you gave me is exactly what the EA tech support gave me when i contacted them with my screen shot problem. As i said in my 1st post... EA tech support was of no help.. so i stopped hoping for the screenshot to work and just used my gforce instead.

    I am more irritated that the gallery is not working... specially that now i cannot save my work in my own gallery

    @LustfullRage  I am looking at your case with some other helpers and need a bit more information. 

    Are you on PC or Mac? The source of problems can be the same but some command keys are slightly different.

    For PC
    Click the Start button.
    Open the Run dialog box.
    Type “dxdiag” and press Enter.

    Save the report and attach the file with your reply.

    @EuphorialQueen What are you looking for in my DirectX? i am not comfortable sending a screenshoot of the report as it contains confidential data pertaining to my machine. I can confirm that my machine is an MSI gf63 8RC. I have a gaming laptop and its 64 bit. I have no other problems with my other games. also i have an SSD (50% full) and a 1tera HD thats 20% full. the graphics card has its own memory and not shared.

    @LustfullRageTotally understand not wanting to share private information and nor should it be shared. When I needed to share mine I blocked out the information about computer name / ID etc. Specifically interested in the operating system, processor and display devices. You can copy just that information to share leaving out any sensitive information. This will help us to better help you. 😇

    Edit: Please note It is always safe to share a diagnostic report. Other than the machine ID the remainder is important to provide information that is vital in helping resolve issues.
