Thanks for replying. I've attached the DxDiag. But I've just about given up on the game. Here I am on day two of just trying to play it. Textures didn't load, Origin freezes my machine and crashes when trying to repair the game, and after reinstalling, I gave up loading my save game after 25 minutes of load screen. Origin and this game are complete garbage.
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@Brannom Make sure that the game runs on your graphics card and not the chip.
As for the Origin issues, try if it helps if you turn of the Origin web services as described here: https://crinrict.com/blog/2020/01/origin-issues-with-installing-and-updating-origin-and-origin-games.html Again, thank you for the help. I've been at this all day. I performed a refresh on my PC to ensure there were no registry issues. I reinstalled Origin. I installed the game. I made the process startup changes outlined in the link you added. I set both the x64 and LE executables to run using the NVidia graphics card through Graphics Settings. I tried to run Sims 4, but it wouldn't start. It said there was an error with a .dll and I need to repair. I tried to repair, and it hung at 2% for a long time, increasing the estimated time to repair by hours. I canceled the repair, which took a few minutes. Now I'm going to uninstall and reinstall Sims 4 yet again.
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@Brannom What dll did you get an error for ?
I'm sorry, I don't remember which .dll it had an issue with. I have reinstalled Sims 4 and now when I run it, I get the error "Can't run The Sims 4 with the video card in this system. Please check that the video card meets the minimum specifications and that the latest video drivers are installed." This error occurs whether I run the x65 or LE version and whether I use the NVidia graphics card or the on-board graphics.
Also, I do have the latest version of my graphics driver.
Latest update: I restarted my machine. Now, I get an error saying "Invalid license. Reason code = No License (0x0003).
I found the solution that says to delete the .dlf file. I deleted the file and restarted. Now it just has an application error: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application.
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@Brannom Try repairing the game to see what happens.
For the video card error, see this: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/PLEASE-READ-Unrecognized-Video-Card/m-p/7600587 I seem to have gotten it to work last night. Repairing never worked for me. It always hangs at 0%-2% and quotes me hours to repair. I reinstalled Origin and Sims 4, and they are working now. The one thing I did differently was install them both on the C: drive. My C drive is the smaller OS drive, so I prefer installing games on the 2TB SSD. I do this with Steam and everything runs fine. I tried with both on the D drive, then with Origin in C and Sims in D, and now with both on the C drive it works.
Thank you again for your help. Not just here, but other places too. Every time I encountered one of the dozens of issues I had, a Google search led me to you helping someone else with the same issue, so thanks.
