Thanks for your patience, The Sims 4 update is rolling out now. If you haven't updated yet, please do.

Same issue including the second unexpected update!
It says:
The contents of your data directory were created by a newer version of The Sims 4 and cannot be loaded. Please update your game via Origin to play.

Same with me - I'm just gonna leave it until ea have fixed whatever they've done wrong
After the update today February 3rd 2026 all my mods are broken and then it had me update the game a second time and now I can’t open the game at all it says something like “download from origin” please help!
Same here, no update.
Just chiming in here... same issue. The game updated... had to fight it a bit but I got it to do so. Loaded fine... I found it odd that my sim still showed... everything they were wearing (NOTHING on her is base game) but got the prompt that mods were turned off and the version number was updated. So turned CC back on and restarted... everything was fine the second time, version number, saves, everything. Cool..
Was working on a build, did not see anything new (though all the stair railings I had put in last night were gone for some reason so I just thought it was because of the update) but kept working for a bit. I needed to check something so I had to quit out of the game (because of no true borderless window mode but that is a whole other discussion) and when I did... EA app told me to update again... odd but I did so.
Tried to get back in and got the whole userdata error thing. Deleted the game version txt doc and was able to get back in... but cannot play due to saves being made on a new version... and no way to update the game again. Did all the things, cache, restart, repair... blah blah. I am not removing CC because CC has nothing to do with this...
It appears that, based on Discord chat, many of us are not receiving the update.
You can delete GameVersion.txt in your files folder, but you will not be able to open saved games :(
They are working on it.
It looks like something went wrong and they pulled the update almost immediately. Some people who did get it are not having a good time so it's probably better that we didn't. Hopefully they'll have some more info for us soon.
