Sim can't interact with anything

So my game isn't frozen as the sims are doing their own thing and it isn't an issue with one particular household. None of my sims can interact with each other or anything in the world around them unless they do it free will. I also cannot to the usual click and drag to move around and can only use WASD or arrows on my keyboard. 

I have followed advice already and run it vanilla, I have removed any old mods too so they are no longer on my desktop. It is since the update was run today that it's all stopped working and I don't know what to try next. 

Please help!

    Annilou62​  If you have any files in ConfigOverride, please delete them.

    Otherwise, try playing in windowed mode instead.  (This is a test, not necessarily a fix.)  If you can't open the Options menu to switch while in-game, you can open Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

    The idea is that another app might be capturing your clicks, so to speak, not allowing you to click inside the game window.  Running Sims 4 in windowed mode gets around this some of the time, but if it doesn't help, you can try playing with all other apps closed, after restarting your computer.
