sims 4 crashes my pc, constantly crashing

i'm not sure where else to ask for some advice on this issue, and i may need guidance on trying to figure out how to hopefully resolve this.

the issue: sims 4 will crash at random times, or even crash/blue screen my pc. my pc is brand new cyberpowerpc that is meant for gaming. i only have these issues when playing sims 4, so i figured it may be a direct cause.

this happens with or without mods/cc. i have tried clean reinstalls, new saves, and even reinstalling my graphics drivers. my current graphics driver is NVIDIA's geforce game ready driver version 577.00 and it is up to date. i also checked my computer for ram issues, additional driver updates, and for repairs... everything seemed fine but i could be missing something. sims 4 is also "optimized" in the graphic driver's settings, but unsure if i need to adjust something else.

    Thanks for the help!

I'm a bit confused on what to download out of these options?

  • craftysimss  Did you ever do a clean reinstall of the graphics driver?  I ask because most of the Windows errors in your dxdiag are crashes of the driver, and one of those could certainly take Sims 4 down with it.  So that's the place to start.

Even if you did a clean reinstall of the driver, I'd suggest doing so again, and this time, going back to an older driver just in case the newest one doesn't get along with Sims 4.  I've seen some reports that the next-newest driver could be an issue, although nothing definitive.  But since you need to do a clean uninstall anyway, and it's easy to update an older driver to a new one, please try the driver from mid-March.  You can get it here:

    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/

Choose Game Ready Driver as the Download Type to be able to go back further.  Please use this technique to clean-uninstall your current driver:

If you get another crash, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

  • craftysimss  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
