sims 4 crashing

hey,

My game is crashing. on thursday i was able to play 5 hours stright, but then on friday and saterday my game crashed 4 times after 10 mintues of play.

i tried changing the lot, opening up a new save.  nothing worked. it crashes in playmode but also crashed in build and buy mode. so i really dont think it has to do with a certain action.

i did just buy the new expansion pack so it might be related.

i am attaching a dixdag file

It's unlikely that there are four different things wrong with Sims 4 or the software the game needs in order to run.  So what this suggests to me, in conjunction with the BSODs, is that there's something very wrong with your computer.  Hopefully it's a software issue, but it could be hardware as well.  CPU problems can look like a lot of other things, and a RAM issue can look like pretty much anything.

I would be happy to try to keep troubleshooting here with you.  But I want to say that you may be better off getting this computer looked at in person by a professional.  If that's not feasible, right now or in general, there are still things you can do yourself; this is not a signal to give up.  I just want to be realistic here and also not keep wasting your time if you're going to end up taking the computer to a shop anyway.

As for current troubleshooting, I would run a virus scan and then a repair install of Windows.  (This doesn't delete your data, just refreshes the OS files.)  Then I'd see how things looked.  I described how to run a virus scan at the end of this guide to the "already running" error, which it sounds like you need anyway:

[CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 Unable to Start, Already Running | EA Forums - 11818313

Here's how to do a repair install:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-windows-11-with-an-in-place-upgrade.418/

I would also update the computer's BIOS if you're not already on the most recent version.  I can't tell what motherboard you have from your dxdiag, but it should be printed on the board itself as well as in the documentation you have from the seller.  Google "[motherboard name] drivers" and choose the Asus support page for your board; your current version is 2603.

The BSODs should show up in the Reliability Monitor too, so you'll know if you're getting new ones.  There should also be a MEMORY.dmp file directly in C:\Windows, which you can provide if necessary, but I'd rather only look at it after you've done the above and if you're still getting BlueScreens.

My game crashes after a few minutes of playing the sims 4. i tries restarting my computer but now i cant even open the game, it says it is already running - it is not i promise. tried repairing it in EA app, but it got stuck (the progress bar didnt  progress for 10 hours), so i tried to cancel the repair, and it doesnt let me.

C:\Windows\Minidump - this directory is empty.

  • shirazhos  Your dxdiag shows three different BlueScreens in a row, plus one other serious error, repeated 2.5 times (because the dxdiag only lists the last ten errors).  So there's something going on that's more serious than just a Sims 4 crash.  Are you getting BSODs while you play, or in some other specific context?  If you're not seeing them, they're probably happening during the shutdown process, but they're definitely happening at some point.

The BSOD codes don't make it clear what exactly is wrong, so if you want to troubleshoot that, I'll need to look at some crash dumps.  Go here:

    C:\Windows\Minidump

For the most recent four files, right-click them and Copy, then right-click the desktop and select Paste.  From there, you can zip the files together, upload the .zip to a free filesharing site, and link it here.

For the Sims 4 issue, I'd need to know what kind of crashes these are. So please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
