@roberta591 Can you read this for me? Thank you!
- I’ve gone to update my nvidia Quattro and it says it is up to date. Also, I’ve only started having problems this week. It has worked for over a year with no problems.
So what exactly do I need to do? - jpkarlsen8 years agoHero (Retired)
I don't know where you have looked but the latest driver from Nvidia is from January 2018.

@universityofwoo First you computer has a Celeron 2.1GHz processor - that is near the minimum requirement for the base game. The video driver is dated 8/12/15 and that seems to be a bit old although Intel is not known for timely video driver updates. The native resolution of 1366X768 is the maximum resolution without adding more hardware. Looks like Intel has drivers for the 5500 dated 06-Nov-2017. I would recommend adding memory to 8Gb - not just for this game but this would help in general. The Intel HD Graphics is in the games database but it is set to cardlevelmedium. Update the video driver, consider adding memory as Sims 4 can run in the 64 bit mode.
I'm having this same issue and I haven't been able to play the game in months

Your Graphics driver is two years old. Go to NVidia.com to update it.

Hello....
I've been having the same issues with The Sims 4 gameplay. I have to keep saving it after every 3-4 minutes. Then after at least 15 minutes of gameplay, everything freezes and then a message pops up saying that the program is not responding.
Can you please read the DxDiag for me too.

@JapaneseJello First thing you should do is update the video driver as noted it is over a year old and Nvidia releases new drivers very frequently. What resolution do you have the game set at? Do you have this issue with other games? Try to run a benchmark like 3dmark and see if the computer crashes. Is the laptop getting hot before it crashes? It is possible that the Geforce 940 MX chip is overheating. I always configure memory in blocks of 4Gb - while 6Gb should work, sometimes the dual channel does not work correctly at odd configurations. Memory needs to be checked to verify it is acceptable by Acer for that laptop. Check to make sure there are no updates for Windows 10. There were some issues with the spring update and updates were pushed out. The most common problem for this error message is an issue with the video driver or the video chip overheating.

I upgraded the video driver. After that i played the game and so far there has been no problems. It does not crash anymore. It just lags a bit here and there but I think it's bearable. I had no issues with other games before. Other games used to work really well, only TS4 used to crash. I think the laptop used to get hot before it used to crash. I think the problem was with the video driver.
But anyways, the game works now.
Thank you so much for helping me out. Keep up the good work.
