Sims 4 Major Issue

I havent been able to start up my Sims 4 game ever since the update about a week ago, it’s been very disappointing. I’ve tried everything. I deleted all cache files, I repaired the game, I deleted all mods, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and I’ve deleted my current sims 4 folder. I may be forgetting some other things I’ve tried, but none of them have helped. I don’t know what else I’m supposed to do, other than just give up and never play again. It’s sad cause Sims is my comfort game and there always seems to be so many issues with it. Has anyone else been experiencing this? I know people have been having issues, but I havent heard of people not even being able to start up the game.

did you delete the cache of the EA app or reinstall it as well? it sounds to me more like the problem is on that end, not registering that you're starting the game.

How do I reinstall the cache files? I only know how to delete them, so thats what I did.

  • missisue1520  I think the other user meant did you clear the EA App's cache, or uninstall and reinstall the EA App?  You don't reinstall cache files; they regenerate on their own as they're needed.

For the issue itself, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I did all of that and saved the file to my desktop. When I try to attach it to this reply, it says "File Not Allowed. file DxDiag.txt. is not allowed". I also just updated my game, hoping it would fix it, and it did not. I'm feeling hopeless about it.

  • missisue1520  I'm not sure why you can't attach the file.  Is the . at the end of DxDiag.txt. in the file name?  If not, it's just a typo in the error message, but if so, rename the file so it ends in .txt without the period.  If that doesn't help, you can upload it to a free filesharing site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and post the link here.
