Sims 4 not launching and says it’s running

My game was running really slowly on the ea app all of a sudden so I have my computer a reset. Reinstalled ea app and games but now sims 4 doesn’t even launch but says it’s running. When I check task manager it says it a background process.

tried another game, sims 2, that opens but the start up intro is so laggy it crashes before getting to the menu.
please help

  • Lily_2324  Do you see the "already running" error message?  Or are you saying the game shows as open in the EA App or in the Task Manager but isn't on your screen?  The "already running" error has a master thread with troubleshooting steps here:

If you're not seeing the error, please let me know whether you have any mods or custom content installed, and if you do, remove them.  If that doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I see it on task manager running in the background and doing the same with sims 2. And I removed everything so starting from fresh and nothings launching

  • Lily_2324  Your dxdiag lists a few crashes of the EA App, so please do a clean uninstall of the App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  Choose the Advanced scanning method when asked.  Restart your computer, download a fresh copy of the App installer, and run it as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Then try again to play.

If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to sign into the same EA account and (try to) launch Sims 4 and 2.  Please try both games and let me know what happens.
