Sims 4 Not Opening through EA App

LirraFlirra​  If you haven't already, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I hade a similar issue now, 17 july 2025. I have updated to the latest update. i have tried with and witout mods. The game won't open when I click the sims ikon om my desktop and the EA  app won't open either. please help! I managed to open the game once, but it froze on the blue tint screen after the sims live event ad. So I had to force quit. And then I could not open it again.  

Anaqins​  You can move your saves and mods from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one.  Move your mods first, testing them in batches or using the 50/50 method I linked earlier.  The point is to find out first if there are any mods or cc items that are preventing the game from working.

Once you've sorted through the contents of your Mods folder, you can simply transfer the contents of saves, Tray (saved households and builds), plus Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you care about those. The rest will be recreated as necessary.

Hi! I know this is old but this worked for me and everything opens but how do I get my saved games back and my mods if anyone knows? Or will they eventually just come back? Maybe this is a really obvious fix but I have no idea about computers.

@KenzieWhite08  You can move your saves to the new Sims 4 folder, along with the Tray files (saved household sand builds), plus Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you care about those.  It's best to move the files, not the folder they're in.

If you have mods or custom contnet you want to keep using, test those first, in the new folder, and discard any that prevent the game from working.  If you have a lot of files to sort through, the 50/50 method can make the process much more efficient:

Hi I was having the same issue and removing the folder helped but would I have to just start over or is there a way I can get my saves back?

I came across the same problem, I also have mods so I thought it was because of my Mods… I deleted all my mods (just moved the mods to another folder separate) and the game still didn’t load. I uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, restarted my computer, turned off one drive - then turned it back on and it was because my saves was not in the right documents location (it was connected to the my one drive) you can check where your saves are stored by clicking “load game” in the main menu.

If you can start a new game, it’s the saves folder. Make sure your saves are connected to the current running game. (One drive / Local was separate and my computer gives me a hard time to just keep it local)

thank you that helped it ended up being something in one of my mods folders that was preventing my game from opening up

@Purple_Panther16  Then you need to put the folder back, or at least the files you want to preserve.  Keep in mind that one or more of your mods or custom content items may be broken, so test those first before transferring your saves.
