Sims 4 SOS

I recently updated my game on PC, and since then it won't launch

It comes up with preparing to launch the game.. but nothing happens

I've tried:

  • Clearing cache
  • repairing the game
  • test folder
  • repairing the EA App
  • Resetting PC to factory settings
  • Changing install locations

Nothing works. Throughout this, there's never an Electronic Arts folder. There's an EA App Desktop folder, but it never has any of the Sims stuff in it, just the EA App stuff.

Can anyone help me get my game working?? Please...

  • Lycarii  The Sims 4 folder (inside the Electronic Arts folder) that contains your user data is only created when the game loads for the first time.  So if it's not opening, it's no surprise that you don't see the folder.

When you restored your PC to factory settings, did you import any of your old data?  It doesn't sound like you did, but let me know if you're reusing anything.

Otherwise, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to (try to) launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything.  The idea here is to see whether the problem is limited to your main account or not.

If the game won't open in the new account either, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

If the game does work in the new account, but you want to play in your old account, please list the location of the Documents directory in that old account.  Search in Windows for Command Prompt, open it, and enter this command:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

    Then post the result.

Not sure if this response will stay, as all my responses seem to be vanishing...

But, here is my DxDiag file

  • Lycarii  Please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of Sims 4 and the EA App, as described in the accepted solution of this thread:

[CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 DLC shows as installed, won't load in-game | EA Forums - 11831673

Anchors don't work on this site at the moment, so use ctrl-F to search for revo and go from there.

When reinstalling the game, please use a new folder you create for this purpose, as described, and make sure it's on the root level of the drive of your choice.  And if you've been using ReShade or GShade, don't reinstall it yet.

The only solution I've had is complete reboot on my laptop. Deleting personal files and wiping the laptop to its factory settings. However, it's now coming up with an error code this time. It attempts to launch the game, but has a long error. I've removed the mod folder but the game closes without warning after the plumbo appears with the Sims 4 logo animation.  There's no mods at all.

Error code: de4ee14f.. with a string of numbers

[I also have alot of expansion packs]
