Sims 4 (steam) does not open.

Hi, im trying to set up the sims for my siblings on their new pc.
The game does not start, we got it via steam. When we click play on steam it just says that its running for a short second and then stops. There is no icon in the taskbar on in the taskmanager, EA starts up sometimes. When we use the desktop shortcut aswell as trying to start it via EA, it also wont work. Same issue.
Trying to start the sims launcher in the file manager also doesnt work.

I tried reinstalling the game as well as reinstalling EA multiple times.
Reinstalled it on the HDD and also on the SSD, both times it did not work.
Is this an issue with 2 user accounts (local windows 10)on the PC? One for my brother and one for my sis.
Both users have admin rights as of now.

It was working yesterday when we only had 1 local user, is there any way to fix it or do I have to actually delete one user and make them both have to use one local user only. Would be bad for game saves etc..

Have you tried to verify the files via Steam? That sometimes works like a charm. Same with repairing the EA app.  And are you using the same Steam account for both your siblings or do they have their own? In case it's the latter, you could try and make it available via a family account. You can do that via settings - click on "Steam" in the top-left corner, then choose "settings". There's an option to create a family library which will allow you to share games with others. I don't know all the steps, but if you go to Steam's support page and search for family library, you'll get a detailed description that guides you through the whole process. Not sure that's gonna work, but maybe it's worth a shot :)

  • Atlooos  Having two user accounts is not an issue, but not fully closing out Steam and/or the EA App in one account, then trying to use the other, might be.  So I'd switch accounts, open both apps, use the Exit option (rather than Xing them out) to close them, and kill any related process in the Task Manager.  Then go back to the other account and try again.

Another potential problem is OneDrive, so please pause syncing if it's running at all.  Right-click the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen, which might be visible or might be hidden in the Tray (^ icon).

Jehane40  EA games don't support Steam family sharing, and in fact that is one reason an EA game might not start through Steam.  So Atlooos if you are using family sharing, please disable it.
