adriannajam I would cancel and restart. Unless your overall download speeds are extremely slow, this is more likely a sign that something's wrong with the process overall, in which case it's better to restart.
The VC++ runtimes would of course be in Downloads after you downloaded them. And to be clear, they're Microsoft-made resources for Windows that games can use; they're not specific to Sims 4.
no i would not say my download speeds are this slow. i cancelled the download and i did the the two solutions you suggested earlier, both seemed to have the same result which is the very slow download that starts at 2% and drags on for hours.
