sims crashes

hey everyone, anyone else having the problem that the game crashes a ton more lately? everytime i go travel it crashes, or when i age the sim up or go into manage worlds. sometimes even when i open the game since ive bought one of the new kits. i have mods, but when i took them out i had the same issue. ive restarted my computer multiple times, have repaired the game. does anyone know how to fix this?

  • nanouk20  Please force the game to run in DirectX 11 mode.  Open the EA App, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and add -dx11 to the command line box.

LadyGray01  A dxdiag is a Windows diagnostic tool, so it's not applicable in macOS.  Please post in the Mac tech forum, and list the full specs of your Mac—everything under About This Mac except for the serial number—and state whether the crashes happen with no mods or custom content.

Hayls2Thicc  Please provide a dxdiag as well, that is if your computer runs Windows.

  • I've definitely had more crashes the last couple months and they seem very random. Placing a staircase, game crashed. Sim went to cheerleading, game crashed. Placed a lot, game crashed.

If I "save as" and delete the original save, I seem to be good for awhile before it happens again.

Ive been having this problem too. My game crashes every single time i travel ever since the latest update, and i dont have any mods or cc in my game.

  • nanouk20 LadyGray01 vzapdaydream  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I'm on a Mac and don't have windows key, but I know to push the command key instead.
