Sims won't open

I have been unable to update sims for the past two days. It tells me I need to update, I click update, it spins forever. I have tried clearing cache, restarting the app, restarting my computer, uninstalling other big apps on my computer. nothing. I have ample space for the update,  but I can't play without it, and the update won't work. Sometimes instead of spinning it simply wont allow me to start the update at all and states 'Things are taking a little longer than usual to load up. Hang tight while we try to solve the problem'. I have left both the spinning and this message running for hours to no change. I have no CC or mods, not sure why I have been having this issue. Please help!
