sluggish perfomance when sims spawn ?

I just wanted to report a possible issue I’ve been noticing in The Sims 4, Ive been experiencing sluggish perfomance when sims spawn. Of course before the last big patch in January 2025 (behind the sims), there is no sluggish. When the map have no sims the game is 100% smooth, (except my last post about the festival fps drop when near festivals that's another subject).

don’t think it’s my PC, as my specs should be more than enough to run the game smoothly:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
RAM: 32GB
GPU: RTX 3070
Monitor: 1440p
Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD

Just to be sure, I even did a full reinstall of the game without any mods, but the issue is still there. I’m running the game on DirectX 11, and I also tried switching to DirectX 9, but there was almost no difference. I even RESET windows same.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • brubruQC1998  Are you saying that the game is sluggish when the sims are appearing on the lot?  Or are you saying the game is sluggish when it's trying to create new inactive sims?  In either case, does the game recover afterwards, back to its usual performance, or does it stay sluggish?

Please test this in a new save, in one of the base game worlds, on a default EA-made lot, and don't add any content from the Gallery or your own library, or any mods or custom content.

For reference, please also provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • brubruQC1998  Your dxdiag lists a couple of serious crashes of the graphics driver, and two of the Sims 4 errors could be driver-related as well.  So please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

Please also let me know whether the game recovers after the sims appear on the lot, as in, it's sluggish when they're being spawned but is fine once they're just hanging out.

Ok so after doing all this.

    1. Reset Windows 11
    2. memtest86 (ram test) with 0 error (4h00 of test)
    3. Windows build app ram test (again 0 error)
    4. Remove graphics driver with DDU, then reinstall GPU driver, same problem.
    5. 3D mark test, everyting is good
    6. My CPU temps are good (45c), GPU 60'C
    7. BIOS update
    8. BIOS reset
    9. Changing ram speed on the bios (2133, 3200, 3600) same
    10. Checking my NVME health, still good.

Btw, I don't lag on other games (cyberpunk 1440P ultra settings with dlss on) etc

    Using direct x9 AND 11.

I don't know why DXdiag said something is wrong with my pc.

Yes I crash one time, but that's it.

  • brubruQC1998  Does this happen in multiple worlds, including the base game ones?  And you're still testing with no mods or custom content, and no other changes to how the game runs, like ReShade or a lighting mod or a file added to ConfigOverride?  Even if you tested all this together before, it's worth testing again now that you've done the additional system troubleshooting.

  • sorry if I send a picture of the text, it's because I have a bug that I can't reply long text weird.

  • brubruQC1998  If you mean that this site is deleting posts or blocking you from submitting, it's possible you're getting caught by the spam filter.  The only thing to do there is wait, unfortunately, although you can always report a post you're trying to reply to and say that your reply disappeared.  You wouldn't get anyone in trouble; the EA community managers would see the report and hopefully dig your post out of the spam queue.

At any rate, I don't know what else to suggest unless you want to go down a troubleshooting rabbithole.  It's possible the game is bahaving strangely on your computer, or that there's an unusual context in which this happens on proper gaming systems that's only hitting a relatively small number of players.  I'll keep an eye out for more reports, or any other suggestions, but I don't know of a specific reason this would be happening to you right now.

  • brubruQC1998  That's helpful to know, but also disappointing that the game can't handle that setting.  It's certainly not the fault of your hardware.

If I see any other cases like this, I'll suggest the users do the same, and if it helps them too, I'll flag it.  It's unlikely EA would do anything with a single report, at least from the posts I've seen, but an established pattern would be worth investigating.
