Stuck on preparing download on 2%

I'm stuck downloading my Sims 4, and it's been going on for a long time to the point that I can't take it anymore. I have been off for 1-2 months due to my charger breaking and I left off redownloading sims before because of the previous update, though of course, I have to start all over again since I haven't opened my laptop since then. But now that I'm back, I already know what will happen and refuse to spend hours stuck in one spot. Please if someone can just help me without only saying the basics like redownloading and restarting, it never works. I would also love it if anyone else who had this problem could tell me how they fixed their issue.
