The Sims™ 4 Holiday Celebration Pack Not Working

The, "The Sims™ 4 Holiday Celebration Pack" Said it was free, so I went and downloaded it. Everything was fine when I went into the sims home page. I went into, "Your Collection" And the pack said, "Download to Use". I went to Origin and went to "Download Manager". The Holiday pack was there. When I clicked on the download button, it make a quick flash of, "0...." then stopped downloading. I tried, and tried over and over. I even reset the page. Nothing is working... ☹️

  • What you can try is exit Origin. - If exiting Origin isn't working, open Task manager (Ctrl-Shift-Esc) search for a file called ts4.exe. Click on it and select end process.

Restart the computer and try again.

If the above doesn't help, try moving your Sims 4 folder to the desktop [Click on the Sims 4 folder and select Cut and paste it to the desktop.]

Start the game, so it creates a new/fresh Sims 4 folder.

Log into Origin again, and try downloading the Sims 4 content packs again.

If Origin doesn't automatically start downloading the packs, Click the More tab (it's a little under the Play button) Select either Expansions Packs, Game Packs or Stuff Packs, and if any of them are showing as uninstalled, click the Install button.

If that goes okay, start to put back the other files and folders. (list of files and folders below).

    - Options.ini (User game settings)
    - Tray Folder (Sims/Houses/Commercial lots and rooms)
    - Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    - Rest of the save games, if any.
(leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave. It is not used anymore.)
    - Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, makeup
    - Mods (Put these back one by one to make sure they all still work)

Please note some mods and custom content become outdated with every game patch released. This means you'll need to go through your mods folder to find what needs to be replaced.

Hi there! Different player than who originally posted but I was having the same issue. I tried this and now all my saves are gone. I'm new to the game so I probably just messed something up. (The second method)

@Th3Y3llowLuxray  @c8in   If you are playing this game on a pc you need to use the EA app and not Origin. The EA app is the new DRM for this game. EA has stripped pc use out of Origin. As the EA app does not work under IOS, Origin is still needed for mac users.

  • @c8in  As the directions mentioned, renaming or moving your "The Sims 4" folder will force the game to create a new user folder with none of your saves in it.  They're not gone, they're just not accessible while in a different folder than the one Sims 4 is reading.  As long as you still have the original files, you're fine.

In the interim, does your game work now?  If not, what happens when you try to play?  Please let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit, and we can go from there.  If the game is still crashing, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@roberta591  I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.  The new player's issue has nothing to do with what client they use to launch the game; Origin is still perfectly viable in Windows for most of us; and the original poster you tagged created this thread in 2018.

Also, Macs run macOS.  The iOS operating system runs on iPhones.

  • Its completely normal for your saves to be gone since you essentially forced your game to start from scratch. To prevent this before deleting or doing whatever with your original "The Sims 4" folder you can copy the "saves" folder somewhere else to make sure you don't lose them. Then after the game has created it's own new folder you just move the files from your old backed up "saves" file into the freshly created "saves" folder and everything should work as expected with all your saves still being there!

I just tried that method as well since the holiday pack didn't let me download it but my saves said they required said pack and it worked for me! Even with the EA App that method is still more than valid for anyone wondering if it still works with the new Launcher!
