The short version is, sometimes it helps performance a lot, sometimes a little, and sometimes it's detrimental. There are also a few technical issues still being worked out.
The only way for you to find out whether it helps on your machine is to test it. You could simply observe, or you could use a hardware monitoring tool like hwinfo and compare usage and temperatures between versions.
