The Sims 4 freezes every time I go into game or build mode

The Sims was working when I played in the summer. Then when I tried to play a month ago, it wouldn't work and still won't work every time I try to play. I can load the game, be in manage worlds, and create sims. But every time I go into game or build mode the transition/loading screen is frozen and I can't play. I have updated and repaired the game but it's still freezing/lagging and I don't know how to fix it. I would appreciate it if anyone could help!

Also I tried to post screenshots but they wouldn’t work :(

If the game freezes again, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I moved the Sims 4 folder to Desktop and the game played with no content. I was able to go into game mode and build mode but it was very laggy and eventually if froze after I started building a house. I did the dxdiag and attached the file hopefully it works. It says my computer uses Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, and the for the best experience I should get the latest drivers from Windows Update or from my hardware manufacturer's website.

  • bibliophile11  Unfortunately, this site isn't letting me download attachments right now, so I can't view your dxdiag.  But you've already diagnosed the problem: your computer doesn't have a proper graphics driver installed.  If you know what GPU you have, you can download the current driver for it, install, and restart your computer.  For a laptop, go to the manufacturer's support site, enter your model, find the correct graphics driver or drivers: two of them if you have an iGPU (Intel or AMD, integrated into the processor) and a dedicated card (Nvidia or AMD, possibly Intel).

If you don't know how to find the right info, click Windows key-X, select the Device Manager, expand Display Adapters, and list each entry you see there.  For a laptop, I'd also like the System Model line from the dxdiag, which would look something like this:

    System Model: OMEN Laptop 15-en0xxx

  • bibliophile11  The site's issue has been addressed, so I can see what laptop you have and therefore which graphics driver you need.  You can find it on the Dell download page for your model:

    https://www.dell.com/support/product-details/en-us/product/inspiron-14-7430-2-in-1-laptop/drivers

I don't see any sign of an Nvidia GPU, so you'll only need the Intel driver, dated November 10.  There's also a newer BIOS version, which I would install first.

Once you've installed these and restarted, you can use this site to check for any other missing updates.  Click This Device (above the list of drivers), enter your service tag, and let the site figure out what you need to install.
