Unsupported video card issue

Hello! I'm having an issue with my games in general, but I think the Sims may have just given me a clue as to what it is. I have an error message telling me about 'unsupported video card'.

When I go into my device manager, I can see that both my AMD and Nvidia drivers are disabled. When I try to enable them, they show with a little triangular yellow warning sign (my print screen function now no longer works for mysterious reasons). Re-starting the computer does not make the little yellow warning sign go away - I'm not sure what the next step is from there. The config.log confirms that my laptop is not using either of my graphics cards (?) for some reason, but unsure how to fix it or if there is another underlying issue...

Please find attached my Dxdiag and config.log under the screenshot.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

  • Zabolaco  Thanks for the dxdiag, which shows that both your computer's integrated graphics chip and its dedicated card have somehow been disabled.  So that's why the game is using the Microsoft basic driver and probably running very badly.  The fix will hopefully be as simple as reenabling the devices.

Click Windows key-X, choose the Device Manager, expand Display Adapters, right-click the AMD Radeon entry, and select Enable.  Restart your computer and repeat the process for the Nvidia entry.  Restart again and open Sims 4, and hopefully Config.log will show the game using the RTX 3060.
