I also have this issue. I’ve done several troubleshooting options even starting a new game, no mods and got the same results.

  • QnRyche  Please uninstall and reinstall the EA App.  This won't uninstall your games or delete your data.

If that doesn't work, use Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) to uninstall the EA App, then restart your computer and reinstall the App yet again.

If that doesn't help either, let me know what you see when you try to open the App.  Sims 4 won't work without it, so this is the first issue to fix.

Are you saying that the EA App won't open, or that you have the original poster's first issue?  For the latter, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

ok now the game will try to launch but just sit at the spinning plumbbob loading screen and thats it

  • QnRyche  The error you listed can usually be resolved by deleting GameVersion.txt, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  Please restart your computer as well.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just see whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If you still can't play, I do need to see a dxdiag.

ok moving the folder to the desktop worked..now what? .. and thanks

  • QnRyche  You can start moving the content you want to keep from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one.  If you use mods or custom content, test those files first, but be aware that some may be broken.  So you might need to spend some time testing.

Saves and Tray files generally don't break the game in the way you've described, so they're probably fine to add back, but let me know if you run into any trouble moving over the saves.  Aside from that, you may want to preserve Screenshots and Recorded Videos.  The rest can be discarded; the game will generate new files and folders as necessary.
