Will my laptop be capable of running Sims 4 smoothly?
Hi guys, sorry to repost what seems to be a heavily asked question but after reading advice on older posts I've managed to get hold of a pretty much unused second hand Acer aspire 5 laptop for my daughter's 12th birthday coming up next week but I'm now unsure if I've got the right one that is capable of running the game smoothly and don't know if anyone can help me check it's got the right spec etc for the Sims 4 before I pay for it and realise it's not quite right and am then unable to buy a new one that will run the Sims in time for her birthday on the 29th 😅
When I go on settings and the system specifications it says it's a...
Aspire A515-47
Processor - AMD Ryzen 5 5625U with Radeon graphics 2.30ghz
Installed ram - 8.00gb
Running windows 11
I don't know how to find out any more info on it as I'm not tech savvy myself so if someone could please help enlighten me as to what all that means and where I can find out what other storage capacity it has and if it will play sims4 without lagging that would be fantastic, thankyou in advance for any help!
@BambiBabyxo I wouldn't say this is an amazing laptop for Sims 4, but it should be good enough for medium-high to high graphics settings with all current packs installed. That, in turn, seems perfectly reasonable for a 12th birthday present. If the price is good as well, then it might be a great purchase. For comparison's sake, you might be able to find equivalent performance for around $350 U.S., and a little better for $450-500; prices are a bit higher elsewhere. You wouldn't see a large improvement until the entry-level gaming laptops, which tend to start around $650.
Storage capacity shows up in a number of places, including File Explorer. Open it and click This PC in the left panel, and you'll see each drive's free and total storage listed below some commonly-used folders.
If you're happy with this purchase, or the price, then there's no reason to second-guess yourself. But feel free to ask more questions if you have them.
